Come to the Sea L'Acadie Awaits!

Petit-Rocher celebrated its 200th years of foundation in 1997. Three young men came from the Nipisiguit region (Bathurst) by boat on the Bay of Chaleur. They were the sons of the deported acadians from the former Acadia (Nova-Scotia).

Since then, as proclaimed in the village's latin slogan "Ascencio Populi", the residents have slowly but continuously built a better way of life. Petit-Rocher has played a role of influence in the development of neighbouring parishes and in provincial oriented institutions.

The dynamism of the residents is well known by all in New Brunswick. Some prestigious head offices such as the Acadian Society of New Brunswick, the New Brunswick Municipal Association (french municipalities) and the Acadian Games Society are situated in Petit-Rocher. The first Acadian credit union was founded in Petit-Rocher in 1936.

The Village of Petit-Rocher is part of the larger parish of Petit-Rocher, which has a population of about 8,000 people. Several essential services are available such as doctors, dentists, lawyer, banks, grocery stores, liquor stores and more. Education and social life have always been an important factor in the development of the community. Two modern schools can be found, as well as a known sports complex with an arena and many social clubs and associations.

The industrial park is partially owned by the municipality and has many available acres fully serviced with access to the railroad (Halifax - Montreal line). The park is easily accessible from the main highway (3 kilometres) and only a few kilometres from the Belledune national port and the Bathurst airport. The purchasing price of these properties is fixed upon negotiation with the Village Council and very competitive on the regional level.

The municipal property taxes are one of the lowest in the region. The municipality has a very good water supply and a domestic sewage treatment plant. All other services of a growing municipality are available.

We can say that Petit-Rocher is a good place to live and to do business.
